Week 10 Waiver Pickups You Can’t Snooze On
Corey Clement, RB PHI (1% owned)
Jay A-Who? The new running back to own in Philly might not be the one we expected. Entering a tough matchup as a newly formed timeshare, few were willing to fire up an Eagles running back last week. Fewer would have guessed Corey Clement would be the one to start. While Ajayi still lead in rushing yards, Clement got the all-important goal line work (sorry, Blount) and led the backfield in touches. Ajayi was also able to find success, so whether his usage holds after the bye remains to be seen, but Clement threatens to carve out a role in this backfield.
Robert Woods, WR LAR (35%)
Far from a threat to score multiple touchdowns every week, Woods had been quietly reliable going into his bye week. Three consecutive weeks of five catches, producing WR3 numbers. Woods was mostly the beneficiary of Goff’s four-touchdown game, but this offense has demonstrated the ability to pick apart good matchups, so Woods should stay on the radar as a high-floor bye week fill in.
Robby Anderson, WR NYJ (53%)
New York’s big playmaker, Anderson now has a touchdown in three consecutive games. His rapport with Josh McCown has grown noticeably better since the early weeks of the season, but he still looks to be a high-variance start as he relies so much on explosive plays. Those should be easy to come by this week against a paper-thin Tampa Bay secondary with nothing to play for. He’s the Jets receiver to own.
Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams, RB MIA (53% and 33%)
Kenyan Drake proved to be the better runner in the two-back committee last week, but the brutal schedule of run defenses (Carolina, Denver, KC) and strong offenses (New England) make me lean toward the pass-catching back. With both of them catching six passes on six targets, it’s kind of hard to tell who that is right now. I still lean Drake despite Williams getting the touchdown, but this situation needs another week to shake out. I don’t trust anyone running behind this Miami line.
Danny Woodhead, RB BAL (27%)
Woodhead has resumed practice and is on pace to be activated for the Week 11 matchup. The Ravens offense isn’t exactly inspiring, but it could be the ideal situation for a player like Woodhead; he’ll bump down Buck Allen who is averaging 5 targets per game. Flacco threw for a season high 261 yards last week, so Woodhead will likely only be an option in PPR leagues as the yardage just isn’t there this year.
